This is a pioneering artistic project in Portugal, which seeks to boost the national artistic fabric in partnership with the transnational artistic fabric, through the musical reconstruction of the medieval Iberian repertoire, in Latin and Galician-Portuguese. It has as a double objective, the dynamization of the intangible heritage constituted by the musical sources and the Romanesque heritage, such as the Romanesque Church of Ponte de Lima (2017-2020), Church of Santa Eulália de Arnoso and Church of S. Pedro de Rates (2018), Church of S. Martinho de Cedofeita Porto (2019) and Church of Santiago in Palmela (2020).
Since its formation, the Ensemble works annually in an artistic creation residency in partnership with the Municipality of Ponte de Lima, integrated in the Medieval Music Encounters "Portuguese Way of Santiago", creation under the impulse of Ovídio de Sousa Vieira, with general direction by Daniela Tomaz (Ensemble Med) and artistic direction by Maurício Molina (City University of New York). In 2018/2019 it received support from the GDA Foundation and in 2019 established a partnership with the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto.
From 2017 to 2021 he has worked with musicians such as Lucía Martín, Eunice d'Aguiar (soprano), Virginia Gonzalo and Abigail Horro (soprano and harp), Carlos Meireles, José Carlos Mateus, Thiago Vaz Cruvinel (tenor), Isabella Shaw (mezzosoprano and harp), Yenisey Gomez, Jasmina Črnčič, Joana Godinho and Mariana Fabião (mezzosoprano), Maria de Mingo and Enrique Pastor (cítola), Raúl Lacilla Crespo (medieval bagpipes, flute and fritel), Jakub Michl, Anja Kolarič and Juliette Primrose (fidula), Ana Villamayor (harp) and Josafat Larios (percussion), from Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Slovenia, USA, UK, Czech Republic, Colombia, Cuba and Mexico.
After programmes such as "The Medieval Pilgrim (2017), "On the Route of the Songs of Saint Mary of Portugal" (2018), "Ludus Danielis I Part (2019), The Song of the Sibyl (2020), it will debut the programme "Pilgrims and Troubadours" at Christmas 2021.
