Na Rota do Peregrino é um projeto artístico pioneiro em Portugal que procura impulsionar o tecido artístico musical da Ibéria, através da reconstrução musical do seu repertório medieval, em latim e galaico-português. Tem como duplo objetivo a dinamização do património intangível constituído pelas fontes musicais e do património românico, como a Igreja Românica de Ponte de Lima, Igreja de Santa Eulália de Arnoso, Igreja de S. Pedro de Rates, Igreja de S. Martinho de Cedofeita (Porto) e Igreja de Santiago em Palmela.
Desde a sua formação em 2017, o Ensemble trabalha anualmente em residência artística de criação em parceria com o Município de Ponte de Lima e o Teatro Diogo Bernardes, integrado nos Encontros de Música Medieval “Caminho Português de Santiago”, dirigido por Daniela Tomaz e com direção musical de Maurício Molina (City University of New York), e promovido pela associação cultural O Corvo e a Raposa. Teve apoio continuado da Direção Regional de Cultura do Norte (2018-2023) e da Direção-Geral das Artes desde 2024. Em 2018/2019 recebeu apoio da Fundação GDA e em 2019 estabeleceu uma parceria com a Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto (ESMAE).
De 2017 a 2024 trabalhou com músicos oriundos de Portugal, Brasil, Colômbia, Cuba, Eslovénia, Espanha, EUA, México, Reino Unido, República Checa e Suécia.
Em 2024, Na Rota do Peregrino lançou o seu primeiro trabalho discográfico “O cortês e o divino nas Cantigas de Santa Maria”, fruto da residência artística realizada na Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, Vila do Bispo, com gravação pelo MPMP Património Musical Vivo / Codax e em colaboração com a Direção Regional de Cultura do Algarve.
Nesse mesmo ano, foram selecionados como European Festival Emerging Artist, apresentando-se no FeMAP – Festival de Música Antiga dels Pirineus, apoiado pelo European Festivals Association através do programa EFFEA – European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists.
Estrearam programas como “O Peregrino Medieval” (2017), “Na Rota das Cantigas de Santa Maria de Portugal” (2018), “Ludus Danielis I Parte” (2019), “Judicii signum: Profecias, canções e danças do Natal medieval” (2020), “Trovadores e Peregrinos: Canções e Danças nas Cortes Medievais Galaico-Portuguesas” (2021), “Trovadores e Menestréis nas Cantigas de Santa Maria” (2022), “Pero cantigas de loor fiz: Lirismo e misticismo nas canções de Alfonso X” (2023), “Rotas de peregrinação: uma viagem a Roma, Montserrat e Compostela” (2024) e o programa “As Canções de D. Dinis, o Rei Trovador”, apresentado em Ponte de Lima (2025) e no Centro Cultural de Belém em fevereiro de 2026.
[EN] Na Rota do Peregrino is an innovative artistic project in Portugal which seeks to boost the Iberian musical ecosystem through the reconstruction of medieval repertoire, mainly from the Iberian Peninsula, in Latin and Galician-Portuguese. Its double goal is the dynamization of the intangible heritage constituted by musical sources and the valorisation of Romanesque heritage sites, such as the main church in Ponte de Lima, Santa Eulália de Arnoso (Famalicão), S. Pedro de Rates, S. Martinho de Cedofeita (Porto) and Santiago Church in Palmela.
Since its foundation in 2017, the ensemble works annually in an artistic creation residency in partnership with the Municipality of Ponte de Lima and the municipal theatre Teatro Diogo Bernardes, within the Medieval Music Meeting “Caminho Português de Santiago”. The project is directed by Daniela Tomaz with musical direction by Maurício Molina (City University of New York) and promoted by the cultural association O Corvo e a Raposa. It has received continuous support from the Regional Directorate of Culture of Northern Portugal (2018-2023) and the Portuguese General Directorate for the Arts since 2024. In 2018/2019 the project also received support from the GDA Foundation and in 2019 established a partnership with the Department of Early Music of ESMAE – School of Music and Performing Arts of Porto.
Between 2017 and 2024 the ensemble has collaborated with musicians from Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, the United States and Mexico.
In 2024 the ensemble released its first recording with MPMP Património Musical Vivo, resulting from an artistic residency held at the Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe in Vila do Bispo (Algarve), in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
In the same year the ensemble was selected as a European Festival Emerging Artist, performing at the FeMAP – Festival de Música Antiga dels Pirineus, supported by the European Festivals Association through the programme EFFEA – European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists, co-funded by the European Union.
Na Rota do Peregrino has premiered programmes such as “O Peregrino Medieval” (2017), “Na Rota das Cantigas de Santa Maria de Portugal” (2018), “Ludus Danielis I Parte” (2019), “Judicii signum: Prophecies, songs and dances of medieval Christmas” (2020), “Trovadores e Peregrinos: Songs and Dances in the Galician-Portuguese Medieval Courts” (2021), “Troubadours and Minstrels in the Songs of St Mary” (2022), “Pero cantigas de loor fiz: Lyricism and mysticism in the songs of Alfonso X” (2023), “Pilgrimage Routes: A Journey to Rome, Montserrat and Compostela” (2024) and the programme “The Songs of D. Dinis, the Troubadour King”, presented in Ponte de Lima (2025) and at the Centro Cultural de Belém in February 2026.
